Pentlands Rainbow
aka Alan’s Rainbow - PL502
There is a wood up on the edge of the Pentland Hills near Balerno that I like to visit which has these gnarled old Oak, Ash and Beech trees. It has open views on both sides and there is just a nice feel to it, it’s haunted by good spirits. One side of the woods has a vista south onto the hills and the other looks out over fields with a view to the Firth of Forth and across to Fife.
Alan had come along with me and was the first to see the rainbow forming and we both got a wee bit excited. Grown men, excited at rainbows in the snow.
